The metropolitan centre of New Zealand. Although this doesn't make it sound like a good place to hike, if you get out of the central city, you will be pleasantly surprised. With Waitakere, Riverhead and Woodhill forests to the west and Hunua forest to the east any visitor to the city will have plenty of spots to get their trail fix.
Al Brown’s temple to dude food is the buzziest spot in town. Inside, it’s all about the seasonal small plates: lamb with mini Yorkshire puddings and snapper sliders with a killer lemon mayo.
