This trail is popular with mountain bikers and open to motorcycles motorcycles June 21 to October 9. Be alert as you hike.

Description

When traveled in concert with the Oro Grande Trail and the old Tenderfoot Trail, this trail makes a great short loop hike that finishes with a 2.0 mile descent to the Straight Creek Road. The second portion of the trail (past the intersection where you can detour onto the Tenderfoot Trail) is fun rolling singletrack with a good climb and amazing views.

This trail also makes a nice connection at the top with the Wide Open Trail #9508 to continue over to the Frey Gulch area for longer loop opportunities.

While this trail's official name is the Lower Tenderfoot Mountain Trail, it is locally known as the Toothless Lion.
