Description

The Woods Mountain Trail is a part of the longer Mountains-to-Sea Trail in the area and is really a hidden gem. You'll find, due to its remoteness, that you are pretty much all alone out there for the most part. The first miles are along a very nice ridgeline with good views of the surrounding mountains. The roller coaster ridgeline hike lasts until the true summit of Woods Mountain. From there, the trail begins a very fun, smooth descent for the next 5 miles down to Tom's Creek. The last mile or so is on doubletrack and passes over a small hill before finishing at Woodlawn parking area.
