Description

Bark Camp Trail starts on Forest Road 193 and follows the northern bank of Bark Camp Creek until it runs into the Sheltowee Trace near the mouth of Bark Camp Creek where it flows into the Cumberland River. The trailhead has space for 3-4 cars to park, but you may have to share with fishermen, as the creek is stocked with trout.

The trailhead itself is not well marked, but look for the wide spot in the road and the creek and you'll easily find the trail. The trail itself is a narrow singletrack winding through the woods beside the creek. There are a few ascents and descents to follow the terrain, but since you are following the creek they are fairly short.

The trail follows rocky cliffs in many areas or ducks under the overhang of the rock in places, with small waterfalls flowing in wetter seasons. The trail is well-worn and easy to follow, with some blazes along the way where it can be difficult to see through the brush. Near where the trail intersects with the Sheltowee Trace is a beautiful series of cascades down the rocks of the creek. The forest service also maintains the Bark Camp Adirondack shelter on the Sheltowee Trace just south of the junction.
