Family Friendly This trail is easily accessed and can be taken as a short or longer loop, making it perfect for families! For safety, children should hike closely with parents and not leave the trail.

The preserve is open from the beginning of October through the end of May annually, except during public hunt days, Christmas, and New years Day. See program website for hunt dates: Colliergov.net/Conservation Collier.

Description

The Black Bear Berm Trail is a shared hiking/biking trail that winds through some of the best wildlife habitat on the ranch, an upland mixed forest. Part of a larger shared biking/hiking trail system, this trail winds back and forth and connects with Panther Pass and Kite Flight trails for a longer or shorter hike.

Another segment connects this trail with the South Easement Road, and features a 1,100 ft. boardwalk where panthers are routinely seen on wildlife cameras. Sunny spots along the trail are colorful with populations of native seasonal wildflowers.

Flora & Fauna

Wildlife cameras set along the trail routinely capture panthers using the boardwalk and trail. Native terrestrial orchids can be spotted along the trail in their season, and sunny spots have populations of blooming wildflowers in their seasons. There is poison ivy along this trail, so those who are allergic must be alert.
