Overview

Follow the Centennial Trail to State Rd then connect to Trail 25 into Deep Creek Canyon. The views are stunning and the hike in and out of the canyon will get your heart rate going. Rock formations and steep canyon walls are breathtaking. Keep an eye on the trail as it can be steep and narrow.

Need to Know

A Discover Pass is needed to park at Carlton Trailhead. You can also access this trail from State Rd off Seven Mile Road about 2 miles up Seven Mile from the Spokane River. State Rd is a small dirt road on the right. There is some parking and no restrooms at this trailhead.

Description

Deep Creek Canyon is unique and well worth your time. Access is easy from Carlton Rd Trailhead. You can take the Centennial Trail about 3/4 mile to the bridge. Cross the bridge and continue uphill on the paved trail. At the top there is a road the makes a sharp hairpin right turn. Take this road another 1/2 mile or so to the lookout. Descend onto singletrack Trail 25 into the canyon. The final descent is steep and veers to the left to cross the rock creek bed.

Crossing the river bed is rocky and uneven. Veer a bit right in the river bed and you'll see the continued Trail 25 off to your left. Enjoy a nice steep climb with switchbacks out of the river/canyon.

Flora & Fauna

During a hot summer, you could find rattlesnakes.
