Need to Know

DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING WINTER - December 1 through March 31.

During the winter (December 1 through March 31) this trail is part of Mt Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System. Use is restricted to nordic/cross country skiing. A Washington state Sno-Park Permit is required for parking. Additionally the Special Groomed Trail Permit is required to park in the Selkirk Lodge parking lot for access to this Nordic Skiing Trail System.

During the spring, summer and fall months (April 1 through November 30) this is a hiking trail. A Washington State Discover Pass is required for parking.

Description

Larch is one of four trails that connect a major trail junction - J1, where another four trails from Selkirk Lodge arrive, to a second major trail junction - J2, on the way to the Nova Hut area.

Larch is a hillside, forest trail with some nice views to the right. From its start (as shown in this description), Larch is relatively flat for about its first half mile. It then climbs reasonably for the remainder of its 0.9 mile length, to arrive at the J2 trail junction. Here it meets up with the other three trails from J1, and four more trails that continue on into this trail system.

During the winter, as part of the Mount Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System, this trail is groomed for classic and skate skiing.

Flora & Fauna

Pretty conifer forest. Deer and moose are in the area.
