A beautiful hike next to one of the largest bodies of water in Colorado!

Description

This is usually done as an out and back. Park at the dam and hike the Turquoise Lake Trail along the lake to Mayqueen Campground. It's a great trail to acclimatize on due to the minimal elevation gain and nice climbs.

For a great addition; continue on Mayqueen then left up the road to Hagerman Pass Rd. Take a right at Hagerman Pass Rd and then you're first left onto Sugarloaf Pass Rd. Hike up the pass, then left at the top back down to Mayqueen on the Colorado Trail.

Lovely, easy trail along the perimeter of the lake. Our puppy loved it and didn't get too tired out. 6mi

We initially thought that this trail was a 6.4 mile out and back hike. In reality this is a 12.8 mile out and back. 6.1mi — 2h 39m
