Description

This nearly flat trail is a short paved loop that explores the San Andreas Fault Zone. Interpretive signs describe the geology of the area, and visitors can see the famous fence illustrating nearly 20 ft of lateral movement from a powerful 1906 quake. Visitors can walk along the fault The trail entrance is located across the parking lot from the visitor center just to the left of the picnic area restrooms. (1.0 km / 0.6 miles)

Short Walk: Drive to the Bear Valley Trailhead Parking and take a stroll!

Family Friendly: The Earthquake Trail is both short and nearly flat, and the abundance of digestible geologic information make this a great stop for families visiting Point Reyes.

Update
Mostly Dry - Really amazing trail but overgrowth along the Woodward Valley trail toward the coast has some significant overgrowth. Pants are recommended at least through that portion after the Sky Trail/Mt Wittenberg due to dry brush and some sharp dry plants, otherwise the rest of the trail is very well maintained.
