Description

Beaver populations have declined in many areas of Rocky Mountain National Park since the 1940's. Beaver surveys in the past 10 years indicate that beaver are rare. Recent park surveys suggest that beaver occupy only 10 percent of the most suitable stream-side habitat in the park.

With all of that said, this is a great place to increase your odds of seeing some of these cute and important creatures!

Short Walk: Park in the pullout for the Beaver Boardwalk, off of Trail Ridge Rd.

Family Friendly: Kids will love the opportunity to check out the cute creatures!

No beaver but we saw a large bull elk at the trailhead. This is a moose hangout as well, but neither moose nor beaver seen. Easy and picturesque.
