Notes: 8.1 mi : Challenging hike from a ridge down to a plain near the ocean. Well-marked with lava rock cairns. Much of the trail was lava rock. Unique outing.

Notes: 4.4 mi : It was tiring going up, but I took breaks as needed. The chains were not worrisome, as I tried not to look down. Lots of pleasant people!

Notes: Epic hike. There were a lot of people hiking, but less than before permits were needed. No thoughts of death or slipping! Saw 2 owls!
