Sandstone Falls, Hinton, West Virginia

Description

Sandstone Falls is a well known gem along the New River Gorge National River prized for its stunning beauty and ecological significance. Located at an ecological transition point on the river, Sandstone Falls marks the boundary between the broad, slow-moving New River seen south of this point and the roaring, gorge-incising New River seen to the north. Visitors hiking along the boardwalk can enjoy NPS displays cataloguing the differences between the two ecological zones and their respective plant and animal species.

Short Walk: Sandstone Falls can be accessed from the Sandstone Falls Boardwalk Parking Area via a 0.25 mile hike along the Sandstone Falls Boardwalk

Family Friendly: Scenic waterfalls and educational ecology displays make this gem a wonderful place to bring children.
