Fort Baker [Suggest Edits]
Description
History buffs will love visiting Fort Baker, the first fort established in Marin Headlands. While the grounds are now maintained for mostly historical puposes, it is easy to imagine the lives of soldiers in the early 21st century. The 12 historical buildings that still stand today are a tangible reminder of the military history of the area.
In addition to the buildings of Fort Baker, visitors to the area can spend some time enjoying the Bay Area Discovery Museum, taking a boat out from the Presidio Yacht Club, or can simply take in the fresh ocean views.
Short Walk: Access this area from CA 101 and Bunker Road. Parking is ample, and the area is quite accessible.
Family Friendly: Kids with an interest in history will love walking the parade grounds and imagining themselves as 21st century soldiers.
