Use the boardwalk that begins in the parking lot, and turn off it when you see the Maritime Forest Trail sign. The path is clearly marked with markers and has benches along the way. At the end is a nice view of the water, though it can be swampy. It's not a loop, when you reach the end you simply turn around and follow the markers back. My dog and I did the whole thing easily in about 45 minutes. Then we continued to the end of the boardwalk path for another view.
