The road heading to the TH is graded such that any car can make it in dry weather (prepare for washboarding). There is also lovely and ample car camping up the road with some spectacular views.

Can be creative with going up other washes to turn into a loop. I was able to create a 18 mile loop that involved a lot of route finding and scrambling.

Expect no water availability and lots of exposure. Any sign of rain is a good reason to get out.

The trail starts at the Cedar Pocket Wash TH about 1.5 miles up the BLM road. The trail drops down steeply into the wash, with the option to go out to "observation point' to take in the views before the descent.

Once in the wash, you can head down stream to check out "the Narrows" (a sign points the way) or follow the wash upstream through a typical mountain desert environment. There are options for side explorations up canyons and other washes.

Easy to follow but this, as a wash is hard to hike in than sand. However, the beautiful scenery and solitude are worth the slower speed if you hit it at the right time of the year (i.e. not 110 degrees).
