Overview

Beautiful views with rolling hills, linking several trails around Alderfer / Three Sisters Park.

Need to Know

You can park on the street around the parking lot if the lot is full.

Description

This is a 5.8-mile big loop that surrounds Three Sisters, using Mountain Muhly Trail in addition to the usual Three Sisters Loop. The route includes several 200- to 300-foot rolling hills, so it's a great introductory hill workout. Majority of the trail is easy/non-technical.

Start at Alderfer / Three Sisters trailhead. Take a left onto Three Sisters Loop trail and get yourself ready for the first incline; you'll gain approximately 300 feet in 0.7 miles before you reach an easy, gradual downhill hike. Go towards Upper Three Sisters parking lot and loop around flat meadow and continue to enjoy this nice downhill hike.

At 1.5 miles, split from Three Sisters Loop trail and take a left onto Mountain Muhly Trail. This is a 2.3-mile extension with several 200-300 feet loss/gain rolling hills with beautiful views. At the end of this trail, you'll be back on Three Sisters Loop trail.

Once you reach this point, the trail becomes slightly more technical -- get yourself ready for one last uphill, followed by steep downhill. At 5 miles, take a sharp left onto Hidden Fawn Trail . The wildflowers on this trail are magnificent in spring! Enjoy 0.8 miles of easy, non-technical, pretty flat terrain before reaching the starting point.

Flora & Fauna

Deer, elk. Tons of beautiful wildflowers everywhere!
