This loop runs around the historic Boston Hill on the outskirts of Silver City, New Mexico. The Boston Hill Trail System is part of the Silver City Open Spaces project and is popular with local hikers, bikers and runners.

Boston Hill recalls the Town's historic era of hard-rock mining for copper, silver and other precious metals. You'll run past several collapsed mines and into ravines created in the search fro precious metals. Views of the surrounding area are superb!

Parking is available at the Market Street Trailhead; start and end here. Start with a steep descent down into a grassy ravine followed immediately by a switchback climb up to Boston Hill. You'll reach a major trail junction; this route goes right for a counterclockwise hike. Pass the trail headed up Boston Hill and stick to a circumnavigation instead. Hike straight through a handful more intersections, staying high up on the hill. Avoid descending down to the Cooper Street Trailhead.

Round a bend at mile 2.9 to start ascending recently made switchback. Bypass trails leading off to the left as you make your way back to the first major intersection. Hang a right to return down to the Market Street Trailhead.
