Description

This trail circles around the campgrounds on the east of the park, though you manage to not see the campgrounds much. Start off in lush redwood areas with fern-covered forest floor where moss and lichen abound.

Make your way along a narrow sandy trail up to a hilltop clearing halfway along with a lookout tower. Climb the stairs to see 360-degree views all the way to Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay and surrounding redwood parks (Butano, etc.)

You'll hear bird calls, see squirrels, redwoods, oaks, manzanitas, and more. The hilltop is part of a prescribed burn area, so expect to see some amazing wildflowers in season.

Lush redwood forest, wet sandy trail, maintained. Temperature drops 10 degrees in the shade. Ran into occasional other people, dogs, and horse poop.
