Dogs Off-leash
Family Friendly
Kids could hike the road heading west to Frosty Gap Trail, which is mostly downhill, but then they would have to climb out. Some could also hike the trail - there are only a couple of harder sections.
Be aware of hunting seasons.
Description
Go up Dogway Rd, off of Hwy 39. Park at the area with two metal gates. West is Frosty Gap Rd, which turns to singletrack after four miles, south is Dogway Rd, which leads down to the Cranberry River.
To reach this trail, you'll need to head east and tackle a short climb up the
Kennison Mountain Trail, and you'll eventually get to an intersection with the Frosty Gap Trail.
The road is a mellow hike, and though rolling, it's mostly downhill. If you're connecting this to other trails, or even if you're just creating an out-and-back there is some required climbing. The shortest loop is to go sharp left on
Pocahontas Trail #263 (sign points away from you) then a sharp right on
Eagle Camp Trail #259.
