Description

This singletrack heads east from the Hot Springs Trailhead off Hot Springs Canyon Road at a sustained climb. The grade eases as the trail get higher, eventually leveling out a little past the five-mile mark as it encircles Sugarloaf Peak (~3,200'), just before Cocktail Rock.

This large, flat rock marks the intersection with the New San Juan Trail, which comes in from the southeast. Continue to the northeast on this old section of trail with a brief descent before making the final push up to Blue Jay Campground.
