This track is sometimes referred to as Ascention or Temptation. This track is a gentle climb with grades that are never steeper than 6% and is the best connector if hiking from Makara Peak to Wrights Hill.

Once you leave the road, you'll be immediately hiking in the bush, and will encounter a very tight switchback. After this, the trail mellows out and winds through the bush and over several small wooden bridges. You'll come to an intersection with Woodhouse on a right-hand switchback. The intersection is marked with a large sign that says "no bikes."

After this junction, you'll enjoy a flatter section of trail that lasts for about 700 meters before you continue your climb. The rest of the way is mainly uphill to the intersection with Burrows Ave. Continue straight for the final bit of climbing before the trail levels off then starts a brief descent out of the bush, past a junction with Deliverance, and to the top carpark where the trail ends.

Though windy, year-round rainfall enables uninhibited plant growth. The clay-rich soils are generally fertile and moisture retentive.

Heritage Trees: Kahikatea, mataī, miro, rimu, tōtara.

Ferns: NZ broom species, Raukaua anomalus, glossy tree-daisy, koromiko, mountain alseuosmia, poataniwha, Coprosma propinqua, Coprosma rhamnoides, Coprosma areolata, kawakawa (shade).
