Family Friendly Short and shaded, this is a great trail for the whole family.

Description

Loop 2 is a very beginner-friendly trail. It is a fantastic trail to introduce beginners and kids to the outdoors! The going on this route is pretty easy, and the looped nature makes it difficult to get lost. Hikers will have plenty of shade along the way, as this route is almost entirely under the cover of old growth hardwoods.

Lake Crabtree County Park singletrack is by far the most popular place for hikers looking to get out on the trail in the Triangle. Its central location is also great for relieving weekday stress if you work in RTP. The wooded trails connect to Umstead State Park's gravel roads and Cary's Black Creek Greenway if you'd like to extend your journey.

Navigating the trails is helped by frequent maps posted near intersections. Please be aware that this is a multi-use trail that is also popular with cyclists.
