Description

The Acorn Trail can be reached by hiking along the Juan Bautista de Anza Trail and then taking the Arastradero Creek Trail for .75 miles until a small, gravel trail climbs to the right. The trail begins as a gravel trail, but quickly transforms into a dirt trail. Climbing through a shaded area, the trail reaches an open, level area where views of the surrounding hills and homes stretch before you on the right of the trail.

Continuing into the shade again, the trail snakes through another set of trees before crossing a small creek bed on a bridge. The trail emerges from the woods and reaches the junction with the Meadowlark Trail. From here, you can turn to the right and work your way back to your car or you can go straight and follow the Meadowlark Trail as it makes its way through the preserve.

This is a nice connector between the Arastradero Creek Trail and the Meadowlark Trail that creates a loop hike. It's one of the many combinations of trails that can be created depending on the amount of time that you have.

Flora & Fauna

Fauna - deer, coyotes, bobcats, rattlesnakes, turkeys, hawks, turkey vultures, and other varieties of birds can be seen in the area. Mountain lion sightings have been reported in the area, so keep an eye out.
