Description

We took the Horton Springs Trail on the way down to Horton Springs. We saw this trail on our USGS map as the closest and most direct way down to Horton Springs from the General Crook Trail.

Though short in distance, this trail is steep and straight downhill. There are no switchbacks and the trails is comprised of loose dirt and rock and requires plenty of effort not to fall. It doesn't seem that this is a high-use trail, and looking later at our map there appears to be a parallel trail close by, and that route is potentially a bit easier.

We didn't focus too much on the surroundings since this was a brutal downhill but when we reached the bottom at Horton Springs we had plenty of water and commented that this trail seemed more like a game trail.
