This trail features beautiful views of sunset colored rocks in Cedar Breaks National Monument. A mellow trail with amazing scenery and easy grades that makes for a great out-and-back hike.

The Ramparts Trail starts from the west side of the Visitor Center parking lot. At the beginning of the trail, there is fun information on the flora of the region. Keep an eye open for Bristlecone Pines, one of the oldest living species of trees, along the way. The first part of the trail winds through some trees and depending on the time of year, you may see wildflowers.

After about a mile, the trail will start to follow the rim more closely and you'll pass a side-trail that brings you to a historic cabin, original to the property. Also, be sure to take the short spur trail that leads to Spectra Point, where you can enjoy the expansive views and learn some more fun facts on the ancient Bristlecone Pines.

From Spectra Point, you'll continue for another mile along the rim. The trail will gradually descend until its end point and while, for the most part, it is very mellow hike, there are some sections that are somewhat exposed or can feel like there is a drop-off, though they are very do-able. Spectra Point is a great turn-around spot for a shorter hike or you can continue on to the Wasatch Rampart.

Beyond the Rampart overlook, the trail continues another mile (mostly downhill) to the Bartizan. This is a pretty and unique arch. This spot does not have a view of the amphitheater, but a rougher trail continues a few hundred feet up the hill to end at a spot that has one last panoramic view.
