Description

From King Nature Park, the trail starts out on the north side of the small pond near the parking lot. It starts going up right away, steepens quickly, and stays steep for most of the entire trail. The trail goes up through some small juniper forests, past some park benches and continues to ascend the ridge to the northeast. There are many loose rocks, gravel, sand and other hazards—very good shoes should be worn to keep traction

This is a great trail for those who are wanting some good exercise on steep terrain but still enjoy some amazing views. Eventually, the trail reaches a small section where it "levels out" or, at least, becomes less steep for a short distance as it winds through a small meadow. Shortly thereafter, the trail steepens again as it keeps heading northeast.

Eventually, the trail goes through a really steep section but emerges above two steep gullies (that can be easily seen from most parts of Logan, especially in the winter when they are filled with snow). The trail levels out for the last short section until it disappears as the ridge gets significantly rocky and there is no place for a trail. From here, there are amazing views of Green Canyon, as well as Cache Valley for those who take the time to look around.

Some people continue along this ridge and connect with other trails further up Green Canyon, but there isn't much of a trail the rest of the way along the ridge because of how rocky it gets in places, so it requires route finding and scrambling to get any farther than is pictured on the map.

Got into some pretty deep snow half way up. Would definitely recommend snow shoes if doing it in the winter. Overall good hike though. 2mi

Super steep but beautiful! I wandered around and scrambled up a few rocks at the trail’s end. Be careful with your footing on the way down!
