This trail enters the Blood Mountain Wilderness Area. Wilderness restrictions apply.

Description

Starting out at the parking lot on Dockery Lake Road, this trail follows the length of Dockery Lake, then eventually works its way down to a creek in the woods.

The trail will parallel this creek for about a mile. This section is a gentle descent with about 5 stream crossings. While following the stream, there are also a few small waterfalls.

Eventually, It breaks away from following the stream where the trail begins its steep ascent towards the Appalachian Trail. This section is about 2 miles long and follows a dry creek bed which is fairly rocky. Once at the top the trail connects to the Appalachian Trail at the ridge line.
