Description

This is a nice, well-maintained and mostly smooth trail that connects Washington Park to the Marquam Nature Park and several more trails in the Nature Park. It is similar to the nearby Wildwood Trail but less used and has more and steeper climbs and descents. A small spur trail leads to 1000 ft. Council Crest which provides a nice vista of Portland and Mount Adams and Hood. It is not blazed but signposts are at trail intersections. Mostly singletrack with a few short sections alongside road and crossing Highway 26.

Making it to Washington Park requires crossing a few city streets. Most are easy, but one includes a highway onramp. Crosswalks in this section are unmarked, and only partially include sidewalks, but trail markers are posted.
