Start North on Wilson Canyon Trail for 0.1 mile turn right (Northeast)
Continue on Wilson Canyon Trail to the 0.5 mile mark and turn left (West) onto Jim Thompson Trail. Continue on the Jim Thompson Trail for 0.3 miles. The Jim Thompson Trail turns Southwest at a bend with sticks and logs blocking the way Northwest. Continue Northwest towards Steamboat Rock.
There are a couple of routes up the red rock marked with rock cairns. The best route is to the right (Northern) side. The trail climbs up onto a long plateau. Continue West on the plateau for 0.3 miles till you reach the steep climb up to the next level. It's on the right (Northern) side of the rock tower. It's a rugged steep trail on loose gravel and rock till you hit solid rock. There are two ways up onto the higher mesa. Both are Class 3 climbs. The first one is right when you meet solid rock wall. The second, and easier one, is another 30 yards along the Northern Face.
Enjoy the second plateau. Stunning views of the area.
