Description

Tonteel is the newly designated loop around Shultz Tank, forming a hub for numerous popular routes into the Dry Lake Hills and San Francisco Peaks. Most hikers will use Tonteel simply to start on Sunset or another trail, but it makes a lovely short walk all on its own. The tank is a year-round water source and a well-known spot for birding and wildlife watching.

Flora & Fauna

Arrive in the early morning or near dusk for the best chance of spotting mule deer and elk watering at the tank.
