Description

The trail starts at the boundary of Morgan Territory Regional Preserve and the Los Vaqueros Watershed, just past the small pond on your right. Heading through open grassland, you soon reach the junction of the loop portion of the trail. Continue straight and pass Black Hills Trail on your right soon after. An emergency phone is on your right next to a fenced tower. The trail descends moderately skirting the edge of the ridge before turning east. At 0.8 miles, Lower Whipsnake Loop Trail is to your right. Turn north to stay on the upper loop. You enter oak tree forest with a few good views of Los Vaqueros Reservoir. A quarter mile later the trail turns left passing a pond on the left and heads steeply back up to the top of the ridge. Reach the end of the loop at 1.4 miles.
