Family Friendly
An excellent and well-maintained trail that doesn't require straying too far from the road, and isn't too difficult or strenuous.
Overview
Fragrance Lake Trail in Larrabee State Park offers a scenic hike through a dense forest and around a beautiful lake. The trailhead starts near the Clayton Beach parking lot and winds its way up through fern-lined paths and large trees. As you go up, you'll have views of the surrounding Chuckanut Mountains and glimpses of Samish Bay.
Need to Know
Bathrooms are available in the parking lot on the ocean side of Chuckanut Drive. The small official pullout for
Fragrance Lake Trail is tiny and fills up fast and it requires a Discover Pass to park there.
Description
The trail is about 2.5 miles one way (not including the loop around the lake), making it a moderate hike suitable for most skill levels, ages, and fitnesses. Starting from the Fragrance Lake trailhead you'll cross the famous interurban trail and work your way up the hillside. There are a few steep switchbacks and a couple of rooty sections along the way. Once you reach Fragrance Lake, you'll be rewarded with peaceful views and the opportunity to relax by the water. It's a popular spot for picnics, swimming (if weather permits), and simply enjoying some of the best outdoors in Washington State!
