Overview

This is the best way to summit Mount Erie. Most of the trail is forested until you emerge on the top, and it is beautiful!

This particular park is very confusing. I would highly suggest you check and follow the line on the Hiking Project mobile app to the T. This trail is well worth the steep ascent. From the top you can see the San Juan Islands, Everett, Canada, Seattle, Skagit Valley and more!

Need to Know

Restrooms are located at the top of the mountain.

Description

From the parking area, follow Trail 215 as it begins a steep climb up the flank of Sugarloaf. Upon reaching the junction with Trail 225, bear left to follow 225 until it ends into Trail 226. Make a right at the junction with Trail 230 until you reach the junction with Trail 207, at which point, make a right.

From here, the hike begins its steady, steep ascent up Mount Erie. After reaching the junction with Trail 26 and Trail 216, stay left on 216 to begin your summit push. From here, the trail heads through gentle grades over a saddle before ramping up again to climb steeply. Once at the summit, take your well deserved break and enjoy the view!

Flora & Fauna

Ferns, pines, deer, raccoons, vines, blackberries, and aspens can be found in the area.
