Description
This trail begins where the National Forest boundary starts. Accessing this trail will probably require extra hiking along the ATV road that goes up the canyon. Most street vehicles will find this road to be too narrow to navigate. There is a poorly made turnaround near the NF boundary, but to get there requires several creek crossings, and some good clearance. You'll also definitely scratch your vehicle with the brush and branches. So be warned. Accessing this canyon is best done either by ATV, dirt bike, horseback, or on foot. There is a huge parking lot off of the highway at the mouth of Robbers Roost Canyon. There is also a singletrack that goes out of that parking lot to the canyon road.
The trail narrows to an ATV track, and leads up the canyon to the Boundary Trail. It crosses Robbers Roost Creek at least 4 times. Most of them you can do without getting wet, but it can be tricky at times. Especially when the water is running high. From there, you can head north towards Pebble Creek Ski Area or south to connect with
Robbers Roost Trail #253 or the south end of the Portneuf Mountains.
