This route, like its twin the West Hickory Ridge Trail, takes hikers past an ancient mound group towering above the Mississippi River. Please respect the mounds by staying off of them; they remain sacred sites to this day, centuries after their construction.

This trail also links up with the Bridal Veil Falls Trail and Weeping Rock Trail, enabling a short little add-on to any longer days including those routes or routes through the greater Pike's Peak trail system.
