Description

This is one of the best Rail Trails in North Carolina with numerous connecting trails along the way. The American Tobacco Trail starts south of Durham and ends at the Downtown Durham Greenway. Along the way it skirts Beaver Creek, Reedy Creek, White Oak Creek, and Panther Creek. The trail crosses through a number of parks like Rafferty Park, Old Chatham Golf Club, Herndon Park, Elmira Avenue Park, and Solite Park. It also goes through the Shoppes at Southpoint area and has great crossing over I-40 there. The north end stop at The Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
