Valley of Fire is open sunrise to sunset. You need to be in or near your vehicle by sunset. An entrance fee of $8 for Nevada residents or $10 for non-residents is required.

Need to Know

This area can get extremely hot, especially with the sun reflecting off the white sands. Carry plenty of water and avoid hiking during the hottest time of the day.

Description

From the parking lot, the trail begins by going through a very sandy ravine between two rock outcroppings. At the right time of day, these will offer some welcome shade from the sun. The trail descends about 150 feet in the first quarter mile down to an opening with the former movie set (The Professionals, 1966), although there is not much left of the actual set. There are some steps and uneven rocky surfaces. The trail then loops around the backside of the larger rock outcropping back to the parking lot.

Flora & Fauna

This trails features some desert shrubs and wildflowers.
