Description

From the trailhead along the ranch road, this 1.5 mile trail meanders west through a shady pine flatwood while skirting pasture and depressional wetland features. Alligators can sometimes be seen in these seasonally wet areas. Open and sunny areas along the trail are colorful with seasonal native wildflowers, and deer and bobcat are often seen in the area.

The trail has several loops that can be used to return back to the main trailhead, or visitors can exit the trail on the west side of the pasture area on a south easement road and continue to other parts of the preserve. The main ranch road can also be used as a loop for this trail for a longer 3 mile hike.

Flora & Fauna

This lovely pine flatwood is shady and cool, with slash pine, laurel oaks and live oaks dominating the forest. Panther are present and could be seen here, but it would be more likely to see deer or bobcat.
