Description

Quartz Mountain Loop is a relatively longer trail in this trail system. It visits the forested southern slopes of the Quartz Mountain/Horse Mountain complex. Quartz Mountain Loop can be hiked/skied in either direction. This description starts at the Nova Hut area, traverses the western slopes of Quartz Mountain, then the southern hillsides of Quart and Horse Mountains, followed by the eastern slopes of Horse Mountain. To finish, Quartz Mountain Loop then veers east to run parallel to Twin Lakes and eventually merge into Twin Lakes.

This is a lesser used trail and offers a nice, long, uniterrupted run for hiking/skiing.

During the winter, as part of the Mount Spokane State Park's Nordic Skiing Trail System, this trail is groomed for classic and skate skiing.
