Description

20+ feet wide, this dirt road is the main entrance to Turnbull and can get a lot of traffic on the weekends. More than half a mile uphill, the road turns left and heads up a steep hill. Even though it looks like the same road, that's where it changes name to Sumac Trail. If you want to stay on Turnbull Canyon Trail, take the right split and then turn left under the huge oak tree.

From the big tree to the top, it's a pleasant, mostly tree-covered road that gets much less traffic. Most visitors to Turnbull don't even know there's a trail up this way.

When the dirt road exits the trees, turning sharply left and uphill, there's an uphill singletrack split on the right, Turnbull Canyon Trail (Singletrack). According to area maps, this is actually the same trail but the change of trail-type and difficulty I think warrants separation.
