Description

Park at the Greenhorn trailhead. Hike out from the trailhead across a bridge, to a T and follow signs to Imperial Gulch. The trail starts up a short wooded section that burned in the 2013 fire. Proceed through a large meadow with abundant wildflowers and attain the saddle.

Contour around the grassy hill sides over exposed, dusty ground. The trail pops in and out of small groves of aspen and pine as it climbs steadily upwards. Views of the Pioneer Mountains to the east are your reward. The trail descends for about 1/2 mile to the junction with the Greenhorn Trail. Note: bikes are allowed on this trail.
