Description

This is a super cool arch, that is great for kids (and adults) of all ages. The very short hike provides easy access to the arch, which is sandy all the way, hence "Sand Dune Arch". The arch is nestled in between two fins in Fiery Furnace, providing a nice canyon. The arch itself is not very big, but the surroundings are very cool, and combined with the arch, provides for a super cool, short trip.

Short Walk: Take the main highway in Arches, and continue past the Fiery Furnace pullout. There is a pullout parking lot, that is the trailhead for both Sand Dune Arch, Broken Arch, and Tapestry Arch. Park there. Once parked, take the Broken Arch Access Trail, and almost right after getting on the trail, take the gravel spur on the right to Sand Dune Arch. The gravel trail turns into sand, and heads into the fins. In the first fin, there is an option to do a small scramble (which kids would love) or simply go around as soon as the trail turns into sand. Continue through this, and the trail opens up a bit. Turn the corner into the fins, and pass some boulders. Sand Dune Arch is just around the corner. The trail itself is only 0.1 miles long.

Due to graffiti, the trail continuing past Sand Dune Arch has been closed. Please respect the landscape, and don't graffiti anymore.

Family Friendly: The fact that the ground is sandy makes it very lovable for kids, as well as the fact that the hike is only 0.1 miles long and easy access.
