Description

Juney Whank Falls, while perhaps not the most impressive falls in Great Smoky, is a scenic and easily accessible waterfall well worth a stop. Divided into an upper and lower section, both sections can be viewed from the footbridge which crosses Juney Whank Branch at the falls. Together, they drop nearly 90 feet from top to bottom. The stream and falls are said to be named after a Mr. Junaluska "Juney" Whank, who may be buried in the area. There are several benches near the falls, and the surrounding forest is especially pretty in the fall when the leaves change color.

Short Walk: From the Deep Creek Falls parking area, head out on the short but scenic Juney Whank Falls Trail. After about half a mile, hikers will come to the bridge that runs along the base of the falls. From here, visitors can either return to their car the way they came or complete a small loop by connecting the Juney Whank Falls Trail to a short section of the Deep Creek Trail to return to the parking area.

Family Friendly: Easy access on a relatively gentle trail, makes this gem a great stop for families with small children.
