Description

The yellow mounds are actually fossil soils called paleosols that have weathered from the layers above them. The upper layers are comprised of paleosols and volcanic ashes. These mounds are noteworthy because of the various vibrant colors they produce, including a predominant yellow hue. It is possible to find fossils preserved in these paleosols, but be sure not to take any as it violates federal law.

On the Road: There is a small lot for parking and an easily identifiable trail..

Family Friendly: Fun view that the kids can get out and explore.

Update
Muddy - Game trails that you're supposed to follow have standing water in spots and very muddy in others, grass is chest high and very thick but less muddy and "easier" to walk thru.
