The trail starts as a wider road before it starts to narrow in places to a singletrack that is overgrown in areas. The first part of the trail is shaded, providing relief from the sun.

Other batteries and fortifications are not as well preserved, but you can definitely tell where the batteries were.  The forest has started to reclaim the area.

There are a series of stairs that you have to climb along the World War 2 Heritage trail. These date back to the 1940s and allowed soldiers to traverse the ridge line.
