At the time I did this, there was a great deal of construction, so the trailhead was somewhat awkward because it seemed more like a dirt parking area for construction vehicles that you had to hike through. That was in 2016, perhaps it is cleaned up now.

Need to Know

Very few restrooms in this park, and very little water. No camping. This is moreso a day trip event, pack everything you need.

Description

Aside from the temple itself, just to the north of the temple is Uiam Rock, a large monolith which features some technical rock climbing routes.

Starts and finishes at a trailhead on the east side of the valley, just past the loop at the end of Samyang-ro 181-gil.

There was a sign pointing out Wontongsa Temple when I did it, which wasn't very helpful navigation wise since there are no follow up trail markers, but if you are following the crest of the spur uphill, you are going the right way.
