Description

There are two trailheads for the Dick Flint Natural Area, a Lower and an Upper Trailhead, both of which start off the north side of Harmony-Brass Castle Road. The trail (as well as both trailhead connectors) is marked with white diamonds and forms a loop around the northern portion of the park.

To follow the trail as mapped, head north along the Lower Trailhead Connector from the parking area. After 300 feet, you'll see a marker labeling the loop; take a right here. As soon as you cross a bridge the trail begins to climb, reaching its highest point (909 feet) about 0.83 miles along the trail. From here you'll descend all the way back to your car. As you descend, you'll pass the Upper Trailhead Connector about 1.1 miles into your hike. (You can choose to take this connector to reach the Roaring Rock Park trails on the other side of the road). Continue descending past this connector, and at 1.5 miles, the trail passes an old farmstead. The farm consisted of a home, milk house, and other buildings. The trail continues on to eventually reach the Lower Trailhead Connector.
