Description

The Red Loop at Bartram throws it all at you, providing 10.4 miles of fun (and a little climbing). If you hike the loop counter-clockwise, you'll take a right after the gate at the trailhead parking and follow the gravel road until you see the first waypoint marker on your left. The trail starts out with a 1.0 mile easy climb on the John Muir Trail, an old forest road that is grown over into wide singletrack in most sections.

From there, you'll hike mostly singletrack for the rest of the lap, with only a few short forest road sections. The loop ends with one mile of rougher singletrack with short steep pitches, rocks, and roots. It's nothing unmanageable though. The exit follows a 0.4 miles climb back up the parking lot.
