Description

Wildcat Hollow Trail is a 15.5-mile hiking/backpacking trail located just north of Burr Oak State Park. It is in the Wayne National Forest. The trail is mostly singletrack, with no vehicles allowed. Dogs are allowed on leash.

This trail consist of a 15-mile loop, with an option of a 5 mile loop for an easier day hike. The trail follows ridgetops and stream bottoms, with several elevation gains and losses. The trail alternates between hardwood and pine forests with some scenic overlooks.

There are numerous campsites along the trail, but the only facility is a restroom at the parking area at the beginning. Most of the campsites are nicely cleared with fire rings and logs for sitting. There is no provided water along the trail. There are several streams that maybe become dry in periods of low rainfall. There are several road crossing where water may be cached.

Flora & Fauna

Numerous wildflowers, fungi, and typical forest animals including woodpeckers, owls, deer, and small mammals can be found here.

A little overgrown in spots so we decided to only do the short loop. All of the campsites along the loop were well established.

2nd thru hike, counterclockwise this time. Ok trail water sources ok, caching still recommended as best option due to watershed history. 15.6mi — 15h 00m
