Description

Montgomery Creek Road is one of the more rustic forest roads in the area with the southern half closed to traffic.

You'll ford both Montgomery Creek and the Etowah River. Just before you join FS28-1 at the eastern terminus, you'll pass through Camp Merrill where US Army Rangers undergo "Mountain Week" training. Don't be surprised to see helicopters at the landing pad just east of the Etowah River.

With FS28-1, this makes for an easy eight-mile forest road loop.
